COURSE DESCRIPTION
The IBUS – Breast Imaging School is recognized as a leading "provider" of education and updates on diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the breast. The “IBUS – Update in Breast Imaging, Interventions, Management Course” is based on academic lectures, interactive presentations with discussion, and practical workshops, and is based in particular on how to properly adjust imaging equipment, how to perform a needle biopsy, the selection of the needle and the type of technique in order that the results are optimal. Both lectures and workshops are provided by recognized Italian and International experts on breast imaging.
The aim of the course is to provide participants with the opportunity to become familiar with the latest knowledge in the pathological and technological progress in imaging techniques such as elastography and "fusion imaging" that represent increasingly important tools in this discipline. At the end of the course all participants should be able to: understand the interrelationship between the disease and the images, increase their confidence for the assessment and management of benign and malignant lesions with a multidisciplinary approach, increase and improve the use of BI-RADS categories for Rx-mammography, ultrasound and MRI; progress in decision making regarding the type of guided percutaneous needle biopsy by imaging, define the best preoperative staging of the disease in order to select the most appropriate surgical strategy, become familiar with the technical aspects of the production of new images such as ultrasound in 4D, automated breast ultrasound (ABUS), the fusion of images such as ultrasound and magnetic resonance imaging, ultrasound and elastography and new therapeutic procedures.
The results that the course aims to achieve are to increase the number of doctors who are able to make an early diagnosis of breast cancer, which is the key to winning the war against this disease.
There is great potential for the detection, differentiation and treatment of small breast lesions, providing that the knowledge, experience and technical standards are sufficiently high.
